Presente Contínuo (Present Continuous)

Como usar o Present Continuous?

O presente contínuo (Present Continuous) é mais frequentemente usado para o seguinte:

— Para ações acontecendo agora;

— Para futuros acordos;

·        This calculator isn't working properly. Do you have another one? (Esta calculadora não está funcionando corretamente. Você tem outra?).

·        You can go outside now. It isn't raining anymore. (Você pode sair agora. Não está chovendo mais);

·        What are you doing? - My watch is broken and I'm trying to fix it. (O que você está fazendo? - Meu relógio está quebrado e estou tentando consertar).

Para arranjos futuros

Geralmente usamos o tempo Present Continuous para
eventos futuros que já foram organizados:

·        Sorry, I can't stay after school today. I'm playing tennis with Sandro. (Desculpe, não posso ficar depois da escola hoje. Eu estou jogando tênis com o Sandro);

·        I'm not going home at Christmas, so I can come to your party after all! (Eu não vou para casa no
Natal, então posso ir à sua festa depois de tudo!);

·        Do you know if he is going to the dance with Olívia next week? (Sabe se ele vai ao baile
com a Olívia na próxima semana?).

Para expressar aborrecimento em ações repetidas

Normalmente, o presente simples é usado para ações repetidas. Por exemplo:

He always gets up before 7 o'clock. (Ele sempre se levanta antes das 7 horas).

Mas... O presente contínuo é a escolha correta quando o falante quer expressar
aborrecimento com uma ação repetida. (Observe com que frequência a palavra
"always" é usada em tais declarações):

·        You are always interrupting me when I'm talking and I don't like it! (Você está sempre me interrompendo quando eu estou falando e eu não gosto disso!);

·        She's always tapping her pencil on the desk and it's getting on my nerves! (Ela está sempre batendo o lápis na mesa e isso me dá nos nervos!);

·        I'm getting tired of you always coming late to class. (Estou ficando cansado de você sempre chegar atrasado para a aula).
