Possessivos e Pronomes Pessoais em Inglês

Os possessivos em inglês são usados para indicar posse, relação ou pertencimento. Existem dois tipos principais:

🔹 1. Adjetivos possessivos (Possessive Adjectives)

Eles vêm antes de um substantivo.

InglêsPortuguês
mymeu/minha
yourseu/sua
hisdele
herdela
itsdele/dela (coisas/animais)
ournosso/nossa
theirdeles/delas

✅ Exemplos:

  • My book is on the table.
👉 Meu livro está na mesa.
  • Her car is new.
    👉 O carro dela é novo.
  • Their house is big.
    👉 A casa deles é grande.

⚠️ Importante:

  • NUNCA usam artigo (a, the) junto:
    ❌ the my book
    ✅ my book

🔹 2. Pronomes possessivos (Possessive Pronouns)

Eles substituem o substantivo (não vêm junto com ele).

InglêsPortuguês
mineo meu / a minha
yourso seu / a sua
hiso dele
herso dela
its(raramente usado)
ourso nosso
theirso deles

✅ Exemplos:

  • This book is mine.
    👉 Este livro é meu.
  • That car is hers.
    👉 Aquele carro é dela.
  • The house is ours.
    👉 A casa é nossa.

🔹 3. Diferença chave

Compare:

  • This is my book. (adjetivo → acompanha o substantivo)
  • This book is mine. (pronome → substitui o substantivo)

🔹 4. Possessivo com ’s (Genitive Case)

Usamos ’s para mostrar posse:

✅ Exemplos:

  • John’s car
    👉 O carro do John
  • Maria’s house
    👉 A casa da Maria
  • The dog’s tail
    👉 A cauda do cachorro

⚠️ Plural:

  • The students’ books
    👉 Os livros dos estudantes

🔹 5. Diferença comum que confunde

✔️ Its vs It’s

  • its = possessivo
👉 The dog wagged its tail.
  • it’s = contração de "it is"
    👉 It’s raining.

🔹 6. Erros comuns

❌ He book →
✅ His book

❌ This is my →
✅ This is mine

❌ She car →
✅ Her car

🔹 Resumo rápido

  • my, your, his... → antes do substantivo
  • mine, yours, his... → substituem o substantivo
  • ’s → indica posse (John’s car)

    (I = sujeito / her = objeto)
  • She sees me.
    👉 Ela me vê.
    (She = sujeito / me = objeto)

🔹 4. Uso do “it”
